Fred Smoot, now in the NFL, was a premiere player at Mississippi State University a few years back. In addition to his fabulous play on the field, he was known for his lightening quick wit.

Once when MSU was playing Vanderbilt, Smoot walked up to  Vandy's best pass receiver and said, "Hey, if you will do my homework for a week, I'll let you catch ONE pass in the game today.

Vandy: You think you are the smartest guy here don't you?

Smoot: Nope, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
