The death of SUPERMAN
George Reeves, TV's Superman in the 1950s, died of a gunshot wound to the head on June 16, 1959. LAPD ruled it a suicide, but was it?
I was eleven years old at the time and vividly recall the headline to this very day, SUPERMAN SHOOTS SELF TO DEATH. Shockwaves vibrated through my system as I read the headline over and over in disbelief. This was my hero they were writing about. How could he possibly kill himself? Superman's death was the topic of conversation for days amongst my group of friends in 1959's Mississippi. Most of us felt as if we had lost a close friend. Google 'George Reeves' and discover for yourself this often overlooked talented actor. You'll also find many theories as to his death. I hope someday we know the REAL story. RIP Superman. 2007-03-12 05:06:41 GMT

I understand the fascination surrounding Reeves' death, but do we really need to know who did it? Chances are, whoever did it is also dead. It would be interesting to find out, but by the same token, some things should lie dormant.
